Most who know me are aware that I`m a diehard Eagles fan. So, to my friend Lew who is a die hard Giants fan-Buddy this good article from AC weekly is for you! Hey-even "The Jay Leno Show" is getting in the mood for the game. As far as-Game-Team- and Location in this strong rival, history has shown extremely hard hitting in this east conference NFL matchup and should be better than the Super Bowl,--without the extra fanfare and BRUCE at halftime! The "birds" are playing like a tight pack of wild dogs on defense-watchout! Time will tell--let the game begin! Hopefully for my sake everyone will be healthy and the Eagles get a good start in the game to prevail a win, along with low winds prevailing for placekicker Ackers to perform well. And, for Mr. L--How bout them Cowgirls--I mean "BOYS". Pacman is out, and pissy fit T.O. is on the ropes, may not get resigned--IMAGINE THAT!
Giant Task Ahead

Admit it. When the Eagles blew it big time vs. the crumbling Washington Redskins Dec. 21, it cast it black shadow on your holiday celebration. There was no way the Oakland Raiders were going into Tampa Bay and beat the Bucs the next week. The despair in Washington was followed by what is now known as “Miracle Sunday,” the Bucs losing to the Raiders at home, followed by the Eagles putting the biggest beat down on the ‘Boys in the history of the franchise, 44-6.
Here the Eagles are perched, Wild Card winners over Minnesota 26-14, and looking to take down the Giants in the rubber game and advance to the NFC Championship game.
Ironically, the Giants provided the template to follow for a Wild Card team to advance to the Super Bowl last year. Now the Eagles will try to match that improbable run with one of their own.
Just like the Giants, the team is red hot at the right time of the year. However, unlike the G-men, if the Eagles were fortunate enough to beat the Giants, and then prevail over the winner of the Arizona-Carolina game to make it to Super Bowl, the team will not be as huge an underdog as the Giants were against the undefeated New England Patriots.
The San Diego Chargers were nice enough to eliminate the Indianapolis Colts and Peyton Manning; Manning has killed the Eagles over the years. The Birds have already beaten the Steelers, in one of their better early season games, 15-6. The fiasco vs. the Baltimore Ravens might be problematic, although Donovan McNabb should have plenty of motivation against the team that made Andy Reid bench his QB in a winnable game. As for the Tennessee Titans, they last time they played the Birds, Nov. 19, 2006, McNabb left in the second quarter with a torn ACL and the Titans went on to win 31-13.
I know what you are thinking. What’s the matter with me, trying to jinx the Eagles by looking beyond Sunday’s showdown with the Giants? Sorry, but I can’t help it. If the Eagles beat the Giants at the Meadowlands, I think they are going to the Super Bowl.
But, let’s return to reality and take a look at the Eagles-Giants match-up.
History: The Eagles lost to the Giants at home Nov. 9 in an entertaining Sunday night game, 36-31. On Dec. 7, the Eagles traveled to the Jersey swamp and returned the favor, winning 20-14. The Eagles are on a role, having won five of six. The Giants have cooled off, losing three of four, but are well rested. Advantage: Even
Defense: These are two NFC smash mouth defenses. The Eagles’ are ranked No. 3, behind only Baltimore and Pittsburgh and Brian Dawkins has been a monster lately. The Giants defense, ranked No. 5, is also tough, especially against the run, led by linebacker Antonio Pierce. The Giants are less effective against the pass; the Eagles always have trouble containing the Giants’ three-headed running attack with Brandon Jacobs, Ahmad Bradshaw and Derrick Ward. Both teams have excellent linebackers and defensive ends. Advantage: Even
Offense: Brian Westbrook was contained for most of the game vs. Minnesota but with one play, broke open the game. He has always played well against the Giants. The Giants passing game is less explosive in the absence of Plaxico Burress. Donovan McNabb has the edge over Eli Manning in the passing game, helped by steady wide receiver Kevin Curtis and exciting rookie DeSean Jackson. The Giants have the overall edge in the run game. Advantage: Eagles.
Special Teams: Eagles kicker David Akers is hot, but he always has problems in the swirling winds of the Meadowlands. The Giants have one of the best punters in the game in Jeff Feagles and John Carney is a solid kicker. The Giants coverage units are excellent; the Eagles have been solid lately. Rookies DeSean Jackson on punts and Quentin Demps on kicks have been explosive their last few games. The Giants counter with Domenik Hixon and Ahmad Bradshaw. Advantage: Giants
The Pick: Eagles 20-Giants 17
